The Mauritanian national and former resident of Duisburg
(note: a city near Dusseldorf, end note) Mohamedou OULD SLAHI
(M.O.S.), born 31 December 1970 in Rosso, Mauritania,
completed terrorist training courses in Afghanistan/Pakistan
in the early 1990s.

According to Karim MEHDI, he was recruited by M.O.S. for
terrorist activities. Moroccan citizen MEHDI was convicted
and sentenced to nine years on October 26, 2006 in France
because of the planned attack on the island of La Reunion and
his connection to the attacks of 9/11/2001 or of 4/11/2002 in
Djerba, Tunisia.

According to information provided by Christian GANCZARSKI, a
friendship developed between him and M.O.S. On the occasion
of Ganczarski's first trip to Afghanistan (Aug./Sept. 1999),
which he undertook because his objective, stemming from his
religious convictions, was to help the Taliban with Jihad,
among other things he listed M.O.S. as a "Reference." On
November 10, 2006 German citizen GANCZARSKI was charged in
France with membership in al-Qaida, operational activities,
and direct contacts with its leadership/functionaries.
