SUBJECT: IRELAND DOES NOT OFFER EXPORT CREDIT SCHEMES TO
IRAN

REF: STATE 4760

(SBU) Ireland does not provide any state scheme of export
credit insurance to Iran or any country, according to Gerry
Wrynn, Department of Enterprise, Trade, and Employment (DETE)
Assistant Principal Officer for Bilateral Trade Promotion, to
whom Pol/Econ Chief delivered reftel demarche on January 22.
Wrynn observed that Ireland fully adhered to UNSCR 1737 and
EU policy as laid out in GAERC conclusions in May and October
2006, which called on EU Member States to exercise vigilance
regarding the application of export controls on sensitive
materials to Iran. He noted that any export license
application for exports to Iran would be subject to stringent
examination by DETE and the Department of Foreign Affairs.
