¶1. (U) Poloff delivered reftel points on the upcoming 
Community of Democracies (CD) Ministerial to MFA State 
Counselor for Multilateral Affairs Svetlana Geleva on 
September 12.  Geleva said a GOM representative will attend 
this year's CD Ministerial at the UN General Assembly (UNGA), 
but did not yet know who that would be.  The GOM continues to 
support the CD and welcomed the information on U.S. 
initiatives related to the CD and the UN Democracy Fund. 
 
¶2. (C) Geleva told Poloff the MFA had received a request from 
the Iranian MFA for a meeting with Foreign Minister Milososki 
during the UNGA.  Uncertain of the purpose of the requested 
meeting, Geleva instructed the GOM representative in New York 
to attempt to determine what other missions the Iranian 
delegation was seeking to meet before responding to the 
request.  Geleva is inclined to decline the request, and MFA 
State Counselor Milan Spirodonovski has advised against 
taking the meeting.  If Milososki does meet with an Iranian 
representative, Geleva assured Poloff she would brief embassy 
officials on the meeting upon her return from New York.
