1. On January 10, Post received a letter dated January 
6, 2006 from the Office of the President with a brief 
message of appreciation from President Jammeh for 
President Bush.  Post will provide text in this cable 
and forward original to Washington (Attn: AF/W - Shaye 
Brown). 
 
2. BEGIN TEXT 
 
Dear Mr. President, 
 
It is with deep sense of honour and privilege that I 
write to acknowledge receipt of your message of 
congratulations which you so warmly addressed to me on 
the occasion of the holy feast of Id Al-Adha. 
 
On behalf of the People of The Gambia and on behalf of 
myself and family, I wish to convey to you our grateful 
thanks and sincere appreciation for your noble gesture 
of goodwill to the People of not only The Gambia but 
the Islamic Ummah. 
 
As we celebrate this joyous event, I seize the 
opportunity to extend to you sincere best wishes for 
your continued good health and personal well being and 
peace and more prosperity in greater security for the 
American people. 
 
Please accept, Mr. President the assurances of my 
highest consideration.
