SUBJECT: JORDAN'S MINISTER OF EDUCATION WILL HOST MAY 
15 EDUCATION INITIATIVE MEETING

1.   In a meeting with PAO and CAO on April 18, 
Jordan's Minister of Education Dr. Khalid Touqan agreed 
to co-host the MEPI-sponsored Education Steering 
Committee on the morning of May 15. 
 
2.  The meeting will be held at the Dead Sea as a 
preliminary to the World Economic Forum, and is 
currently envisioned as a continuation of the WEF- 
organized Jordan Education Initiative (JEI) conference 
taking place in Amman the previous day.  In the May 15 
meeting, private sector representatives and education 
ministers will focus on successful examples of business 
support for educational reform.
