Understanding cables

If you find meaningful or important information in a cable, please link directly to its unique reference number. Linking to a specific paragraph in the body of a cable is also possible by copying the appropriate link (to be found at theparagraph symbol). 1.  (SBU) On December 1, Poloff met with Deputy Director of Foreign 
Policy Nelson Amaya, Director of Middle East Affairs Milton MagaC1a, 
and Director of Bilateral Relations Wendy Acevedo at the Ministry 
of Foreign Affairs (MFA) to discuss talking points from Ref A. 
 
 
 
2.  (SBU) Amaya said he would pass the talking points to Minister 
of Foreign Affairs Hugo Martinez, who is in Portugal attending the 
Ibero-American Summit.  The MFA officials asked if NATO members 
will support the US by deploying additional forces to Afghanistan, 
and if the U.S. will employ other strategies besides the deployment 
of additional troops.  They would like follow up on these topics. 
 
 
 
3.  (U) Post provided the Spanish-language version of the speech to 
the MFA on December 2.
