GOLDSTONE REPORT FINDINGS

REF: STATE 112828 -- DEMARCHE REQUEST ON GOLDSTONE
     REPORT

1. (SBU) Poloff conveyed reftel demarche points to Mr. Jamal
Sharifuddin Johan, Principal Assistant Secretary in the MFA's
Political, Security, and Disarmament Unit of the Multilateral
Political Division, on November 3. Jamal thanked Poloff for
providing the U.S. perspective on the Goldstone Report, but
said that the GOM will "definitely" support its findings when
raised in the U.N. General Assembly.

2. (SBU) Comment: The GOM, as a stalwart in the OIC and NAM,
has a long and consistent history of supporting UN measures
critical of Israel. We do not foresee the GOM changing its
position on this issue. End Comment.
