Understanding cables
Every cable message consists of three parts:
  • The top box shows each cables unique reference number, when and by whom it originally was sent, and what its initial classification was.

ΒΆ1.  (SBU) Embassy officials spoke with Ecuadorian Army Lieutenant 
Luna, Commander of the Ecuadorian Army's Fourth Division 
Reconnaissance Unit, who confirmed that the 35 Bushmaster 
Patrolman's carbines and 35 M203 grenade launchers were received by 
the Ecuadorian Joint Command in May 2009.  Luna added that the 
above items had since been deployed to the Fourth Division 
Reconnaissance Unit in El Coca, Orellana province.  Embassy 
officials familiar with the unit confirm that the facilities are 
sufficient for secure storage of the weapons.
