SUBJECT: COUNTRY CLEARANCE FOR TRAVEL OF POLITICAL OFFICER TO 
TRIPOLI 
 
1. (SBU) The Office of the U.S. Special Envoy to Sudan (S/USSES) has 
requested that Embassy Khartoum Political Officer Alexander Tatsis 
travel to Tripoli on October 15. 
 
2. (SBU) The purpose of Mr. Tatsis' travel is to support 
preparations for a joint initiative of the U.S. Special Envoy to 
Sudan, Maj. Gen. Scott Gration, and the Government of Libya towards 
unification of Darfuri rebel movements and advancement of the peace 
process. 
 
3.  (SBU) Post will submit ASAP an eCC for Mr. Tatsis.
