Understanding cables
Every cable message consists of three parts:
  • The top box shows each cables unique reference number, when and by whom it originally was sent, and what its initial classification was.

If you find meaningful or important information in a cable, please link directly to its unique reference number. Linking to a specific paragraph in the body of a cable is also possible by copying the appropriate link (to be found at theparagraph symbol). (SBU) The Prime Minister's Chief of Staff, Tariq Abdullah, 
told DCM on October 28 that the UN had notified the MFA of 
its intention to send Assistant Secretary General Oscar 
Fernandez Taranco to Iraq to gather information about foreign 
support for the perpetrators of the August 19 bombing, in 
response to the GOI's request (ref A & B).  Abdullah stated 
that the GOI had approved the proposed visit and was still 
working out possible dates with the UN.
