ΒΆ1. On October 1, 2009, Embassy Baghdad received a diplomatic 
note from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Republic of Iraq, 
which forwarded a letter from the President of the Islamic 
Supreme Council of Iraq Ammar Al-Hakim to Vice President 
Biden.  Below is the text of the letter.

With the utmost appreciation and gratitude, I received your 
letter of condolences for the loss of his Eminence, Abdul 
Aziz Al-Hakim, which helped a great deal in alleviating our 
grief. 
 
I would like to express my thanks to your Excellency for your 
noble and kind feelings.  Also, I would like to wish the 
American people success and progress and hope that our two 
countries maintain strong relationships.  I take this 
opportunity to express my sorrow for the loss of your father 
and to present my sincere condolences.
