Understanding cables
Every cable message consists of three parts:
  • The top box shows each cables unique reference number, when and by whom it originally was sent, and what its initial classification was.

  • The bottom box presents the body of the cable. The opening can contain a more specific subject, references to other cables (browse by origin to find them) or additional comment. This is followed by the main contents of the cable: a summary, a collection of specific topics and a comment section.

1.  (U) Post delivered reftel recent demarches to Ministry of 
External Relations (MINREX) Director for Americas Joe Nzume, covering 
the  U.N. General Assembly agenda, the ESTA and Travel Promotion Act, 
the Trafficking Victims Protection Reauthorization Act (TVPRA) list 
of goods produced by child labor, the International Atomic Energy 
Agency General Conference, the U.N. Food Security Summit, U.S. 
concerns regarding Iran's nuclear program, the 12th U.N. Human Rights 
Council Session, and a demarche on Kosovo. 
 
2.  (U) Nzume responded that Cameroon supports the U.S. position on 
Kosovo, actively supports efforts to strengthen human rights in 
Burundi, and supports freedom of religion. He provided no other 
substantive responses to the demarches but promised to share the 
information within the Ministry.
