Understanding cables
Every cable message consists of three parts:
  • The top box shows each cables unique reference number, when and by whom it originally was sent, and what its initial classification was.

SUBJECT: VISAS VIPER:  SURABAYA AUGUST 2009 MONTHLY REPORT 
 
Consulate General Surabaya held its August 2009 Visas Viper 
meeting on August 26, 2009.  Principal Officer Caryn McClelland 
chaired the meeting.  Post Coordinator for Visas Viper Meetings 
is Consular Section Chief Terry Mobley.  Consulate General 
Surabaya has no names to submit for the August 2009 reporting 
period. 
 
Note:  While post has no names to report at the present time, 
Indonesian newspapers reported that police had obtained 
information regarding 11 terrorist suspects who are thought to 
be residing in East Java, Indonesia, and who are thought to have 
been involved in some aspect of the July 17 terrorist attacks in 
Jakarta.  Post's Regional Security Office contacted police to 
try to obtain the terrorist suspects' names and dates of birth. 
Police advised post to contact Detachment 88 in Jakarta.  As a 
result, Post has contacted Embassy Jakarta for assistance in 
requesting the names and dates of birth from Detachment 88 
Police Headquarters.
