SUBJECT: SLOVENIA: H1N1: ELEVEN NEW CASES THIS WEEK BRING SLOVENIA'S
TOTAL TO FOURTEEN

REF: LJUBLJANA 176, LJUBLJANA 177

SUMMARY
-------

1. (U) In the past week, the Slovenian National Institute of Public
Health confirmed that eleven additional positive cases of H1N1 had
been identified, bringing Slovenia's total to fourteen. All
patients are being treated at home and authorities did not signal
that any of the cases were worrying. End summary.

2. (U) Of the eleven cases, five had recently returned from a trip
to the U.K., two from Thailand, one from Greece, one from the U.S.,
and one was infected in Slovenia by another Slovenian case.

3. (U) The National Institute stated that most cases exhibited the
normal signs of fever, cough, sore throat and muscle fatigue. They
further stated that the number of Slovenian cases is expected to
grow as more people travel abroad during the summer months. Public
health officials stressed that all Slovenes practice heightened
levels of hygiene and closely monitor their health after returning
from summer travel.
