Understanding cables
Every cable message consists of three parts:
  • The top box shows each cables unique reference number, when and by whom it originally was sent, and what its initial classification was.

1. (SBU) SUMMARY: The net number of H1N1 infections in Germany rose 
by 25 cases to a total of 358. END SUMMARY. 
 
2. (SBU) On June 25, the National Reference Center for Influenza at 
RKI announced in its press briefing twenty-six new 
laboratory-confirmed cases of H1N1 for Germany, and subtracted one 
previously confirmed case. This net increase of twenty-five cases 
brings the total to 358. One H1N1 infection previously confirmed in 
Saxony-Anhalt was rescinded.  New cases were distributed among the 
federal states as follows: Baden-W|rttemberg (3), Bavaria (7), 
Berlin (1), Hesse (1), North Rhine-Westphalia (12), Saxony (1), 
Saxony-Anhalt (-1), and Thuringia (1). 
 
3. (SBU)  North Rhine-Westphalia (NRW) remains the state showing the 
highest number of infections among all German states with 168 
confirmed cases, followed by Bavaria (57 cases) and 
Baden-Wuerttemberg (47 cases). These states also saw the largest 
increases in cases. The Federal State of Saarland remains the only 
state without confirmed virus cases.  The number of confirmed 
infections resulting from domestic transmission of the virus 
increased by 21 bringing the total up to 199.
