Understanding cables

(SBU) Pol-Econ Chief delivered reftel information April 14 to 
Mohammed al-Hassan, Political Affairs Director for Minister 
Responsible for Foreign Affairs Yusef bin Alawi.  Al-Hassan had no 
substantive reply but confirmed that he and bin Alawi were 
departing Muscat later in the day for "meetings in Tehran" before 
the Minister traveled to Washington, D.C.  [Note:  According to 
international media, bin Alawi will meet with Iranian Foreign 
Minister Mottaki while in Tehran.  End Note.]  Al-Hassan pledged to 
give our points directly to bin Alawi for review.
