Understanding cables
Every cable message consists of three parts:

If you find meaningful or important information in a cable, please link directly to its unique reference number. Linking to a specific paragraph in the body of a cable is also possible by copying the appropriate link (to be found at theparagraph symbol). 1.  EU Special Representative for Sudan Torben Brylle 
welcomed the U.S. announcement of a new Special Envoy for 
Sudan and has asked that post transmit his letter of 
congratulations.  Post understands that Ambassador Brylle has 
been in touch separately with AF/SPG regarding his request 
for a meeting with General Gration on March 26 or 27 in 
Washington.  The text of EUSR Brylle's letter follows. 
 
 
2. Dear General Gration, 
 
Please allow me to congratulate you upon your appointment as 
United States Special Envoy for Sudan. 
 
The current situation in Sudan is particularly challenging. 
The immediate humanitarian needs, the demand for security and 
the search for political solutions certainly calls for more 
concerted international efforts. 
 
I hope to have an opportunity to meet you in the near future 
to get acquainted and discuss how we can jointly work on 
Sudan as well as related regional issues. 
 
Looking forward to continue close cooperation with the United 
States, I send you my best wishes for your new assignment.
