Understanding cables
Every cable message consists of three parts:
  • The top box shows each cables unique reference number, when and by whom it originally was sent, and what its initial classification was.

ΒΆ1.  (U)  In  diplomatic note number 945 sent to the Embassy 
on March 16, 2009, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs informed 
us that Cherif Sammari will be its candidate for Vice 
President of the Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission 
of the United Nations Organization for Education, Science and 
Culture.  The GOT asked for US support for Sammari,s 
candidacy.  Mr. Sammari is currently the chief of the 
laboratory of Milieu Marin at the National Institute of 
Science and Technology of the Ocean.  The elections will be 
held during the United Nations General Assembly in June 2009. 
 Post will send Mr. Sammari's C.V. to IO/UNESCO.
