Understanding cables
Every cable message consists of three parts:
  • The top box shows each cables unique reference number, when and by whom it originally was sent, and what its initial classification was.
  • The middle box contains the header information that is associated with the cable. It includes information about the receiver(s) as well as a general subject.
  • The bottom box presents the body of the cable. The opening can contain a more specific subject, references to other cables (browse by origin to find them) or additional comment. This is followed by the main contents of the cable: a summary, a collection of specific topics and a comment section.

If you find meaningful or important information in a cable, please link directly to its unique reference number. COUNCIL RESOLUTIONS ON IRAN

1. (U) Pursuant to reftel action request, Embassy Bangkok 
provided the Thai Ministry of Foreign Affairs Department of 
International Organizations Peace, Security and Disarmament 
Division and Department of South Asian, Middle East and 
African Affairs, Iran Desk copies of the United Nations 
Security Council (UNSC) Resolution 1835 and associated 
non-paper.  Officials of both departments advised that they 
had received copies of the resolution from their 
representatives in New York and expressed appreciation for 
the non-paper.  Neither department had any substantive 
comments or questions on the resolution or non-paper. 
 
2. (U) As directed, we stressed the importance of 
implementing all UNSC resolutions adopted on Iran and the 
importance of Iran abiding by its UNSC obligations, IAEA 
Board of Governors' requirements, and the provisions of the 
Treaty on the Nonproliferation of Nuclear Weapons without 
further delay.
