ΒΆ1. (U) We delivered reftel demarche to MFA South Asia 
Department Second Secretary Ilhan Sener on July 3. On July 10 
MFA South Asia Deputy Director General Babur Hizlan told us 
Turkey was in favor of the proposal to expand the size of the 
Afghan National Army.  On July 23, we followed up with Devrim 
Ozturk, the MFA Head of Department for South Asia, who 
confirmed Turkish support for the proposal at the next Joint 
Coordination and Monitoring Board meeting.
