The Embassy is in receipt of a diplomatic note, number 0288, 
from the Moroccan Ministry of Foreign Affairs requesting U.S. 
Government support for the candidacy of Ambassador El Hassane 
Zahid for membership on the United Nations' International 
Civil Service Committee. The full candidate packet will be 
scanned and emailed to NEA/MAG. A translation of the 
diplomatic note is appended below.

Complimentary opening. 
 
The Kingdom of Morocco has officially presented the 
candidature of Ambassador El Hassane Zahid to the United 
Nations, for a seat on the United Nations' International 
Civil Service Committee. Morocco will present the candidature 
of Mr. Zahid for a new four-year term (2009-2012), during 
elections to be held in New York in September 2008, during 
the next session of the United Nations General Assembly. 
 
Current Ambassador of His Majesty the King in Thailand since 
2003, Mr. Zahid, whose curriculum vitae is enclosed, was also 
Deputy Permanent Representative of Morocco in New York, and 
Vice Chairman of the Fifth Administrative and Financial 
Committee during the 47th session of the United Nations 
General Assembly. 
 
In view of the excellent relations of friendship and 
cooperation existing between our two countries, the Moroccan 
Government would particularly appreciate the support that 
your Government could bring to this candidacy.
