Understanding cables
Every cable message consists of three parts:
  • The top box shows each cables unique reference number, when and by whom it originally was sent, and what its initial classification was.

(SBU) On May 19, post conveyed reftel non-paper to Alexander 
Benedict, Deputy Head of the MFA's Arms Control, Disarmament, 
and Non-Proliferation Department, and to Helmut Krehlik, Head 
of the Ministry of Economic's (MoE) Import and Export Control 
Division.  EconUnit Chief followed up with Krehlik on May 20. 
 Krehlik welcomed the information regarding Iran's equipment 
needs for its IR-2 centrifuge design.  Krehlik said that the 
GoA remained highly sensitive to applications to export 
equipment to Iran, particularly in light of the UNSCR 
sanctions against Iran.
