The Ministry of Health (MOH) oversees Indonesia's human public 
health activities including avian influenza.  Since January 2007, 
the Minister of Health has been at the forefront of human sample 
sharing impasse.  To date, MOH has only shared six of 52 cases human 
samples with the World Health Organization's Collaborating Center.

 (KOMNAS FBPI) 
 
 
KOMNAS FBPI coordinates and facilitates Indonesia's response to 
avian influenza and identifies the most effective ways to implement 
the National AI Strategy.  It is a Minister-level committee composed 
of 14 members and chaired by the Coordinating Minister of People's 
Welfare with operation managed by the Chief Executive, Dr. Bayu 
Krisnamurthi, an economist, who is also a deputy minister for 
agriculture and marine affairs at the Coordinating Ministry for the 
Economy.

zone in Tangerang Municipality. After considerable delay due to lack 
of GOI funding, the project officially began in May 2007.  Current 
project activities include Baseline survey and coordination of all

¶G.  INTERNATIONAL AGENCIES 
 
The WHO country office is responsible for human AI programs in 
Indonesia through its partnerships with the European Commission, 
AusAid, Japan, CAREID, and USAID.  The UN Food and Agriculture 
Organization (FAO) provides technical and program support to the MOA 
on AI animal surveillance, control, eradication, and vaccine issues 
through programs such as the USAID funded Participatory Disease 
Surveillance/Response (PDS/R) Program.  UNICEF is responsible for 
developing and implementing public education and media activities to 
the Indonesian people.   ASEAN will be focusing on progressive AI 
control and eradication in poultry throughout the region.  CARE, 
Indonesia, through support from CDC-Atlanta, has conducted education 
and awareness training to community members residing in 13 out of 30 
villages in Tangerang municipality.
