Understanding cables
Every cable message consists of three parts:
  • The top box shows each cables unique reference number, when and by whom it originally was sent, and what its initial classification was.

If you find meaningful or important information in a cable, please link directly to its unique reference number. Linking to a specific paragraph in the body of a cable is also possible by copying the appropriate link (to be found at theparagraph symbol). 1. (SBU) Acting PolCouns delivered reftel demarche to MEA 
Undersecretary (United Nations Political) Vishwesh Negi on 
March 12, urging the GOI to publicly support the new 
Special Representative of the UN Secretary General for 
Afghanistan, Kai Eide.  Negi noted our request and said 
that he would discuss it internally, but made not 
commitment. 
 
2.  (SBU) COMMENT: Post expects the GOI will offer public 
support for Eide, and will report separately if/when such a 
statement is made.
