Understanding cables
Every cable message consists of three parts:
  • The top box shows each cables unique reference number, when and by whom it originally was sent, and what its initial classification was.
  • The middle box contains the header information that is associated with the cable. It includes information about the receiver(s) as well as a general subject.
  • The bottom box presents the body of the cable. The opening can contain a more specific subject, references to other cables (browse by origin to find them) or additional comment. This is followed by the main contents of the cable: a summary, a collection of specific topics and a comment section.
To understand the justification used for the classification of each cable, please use this WikiSource article as reference.

Subject -- Blue Lantern Case -- EL-OP

Dear Michael:

In response to your query dated September 5 relating to EL-OP
Electro Optics, our inquiry has found the following:

-- EL-OP received the 8 connectors in November 2005, and they
are in its possession.

-- The connectors are to be installed in electronic boxes of
reconnaissance cameras to be used by the Indian Air Force on
Su-30 aircraft. Supply of the cameras is expected to start
by December 2007.

Sincerely,

Rami Yungman

2. (SBU) On November 5, Embassy Tel Aviv Blue Lantern Officer
confirmed the above in a conversation with EL-OP Director for
Materiel Management Avi Shoham. During the conversation,
Blue Lantern Officer reminded Shoham that any re-transfer of
United States Munitions List (USML) items not authorized by
the U.S. Government is prohibited. Shoham confirmed that he
understood this, and undertook to remind his employees of
this prohibition.
