Understanding cables
Every cable message consists of three parts:
  • The top box shows each cables unique reference number, when and by whom it originally was sent, and what its initial classification was.

1. E/POLoff delivered reftel demarche to Mauricio Fernandez, 
Chief of Money Laundering at the Public Ministry;  Victor 
Ossa, Director of Chile's Financial Intelligence Unit (the 
UAF); Gustavo Arriagada, Superintendent of the 
Superintendency of Banks; Cristina Farah of the Bank 
Association; and Julio Bravo, MFA's Office of Special 
Political Issues.  Farah sent the background information 
about FATF's (Financial Action Task Force) actions regarding 
Iran to bank compliance officers. 
 
2. E/POLoff also discussed the issue with Tamara Agnic, 
Advisor to the Deputy Finance Minister.  Agnic, who serves as 
Chile's representative to GAFISUD (South America's Financial 
Action Task Force), said she will consult others within the 
Ministry of Finance to determine what actions the government 
should take.  Post will inform points of contact listed in 
reftel of any substantive update.
