Understanding cables
Every cable message consists of three parts:
  • The top box shows each cables unique reference number, when and by whom it originally was sent, and what its initial classification was.

Finance and Foreign Ministries Informed

1.  On November 2 and November 5, Emboff urged Finance 
Secretary Vidyadhar Mallik and the Foreign Ministry's 
 
SIPDIS 
Americas section officer Leknath Bhattarai, respectively, to 
encourage the Government of Nepal to take concrete actions to 
follow up on the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) statement 
on Iran.  Bhattarai promised to pass the information to the 
West Asia and UN and International Organizations sections in 
the MFA.  Mallik said he would further review the 
information. 
 
Central Bank Enthusiastic

2.  On November 14, Keshav Raj Acharya and Ram Hari Neupane, 
Director and Deputy Director of Nepal Rastra (Central) Bank's 
Regulation Department for Bank and Financial Institutions, 
enthusiastically expressed their support for the FATF 
statement.  Acharya and Neupane also responded positively to 
the designations of Iranian entities and individuals as well 
as three Saudi nationals (septels).
