REF: SECSTATE 147320

1. (SBU) After speaking with Argentinian Ambassador R. Carlos
Sersale di Cerisano, who is accredited to Botswana but is
resident in Pretoria, Poloff delivered on October 30 Reftel
demarche to the GOB's Director of Multilateral Affairs in the
Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperartion,
Mr. Mothusi Nkgowe. Mr. Nkgowe was familiar with the case
although not with the upcoming vote but promised to pass on
the information to the Botswana delegation attending the
INTERPOL General Assembly. At the request of Ambassador
Sersale, poloff left a copy of President Kirchner's speech to
the UN General Assembly, which mentioned this matter.

2. (U) Officials at the Embassies of the United Kingdom,
France, and Germany in Gaborone told Poloff that they were
unaware of this request and had no plans to demarche the GOB
on behalf of Argentina.
