Understanding cables

urging China to instruct its UN delegation to vote against 
any amendments to the U.S.-proposed UN General Assembly 
resolution condemning rape as a tool for political and 
military objectives and to support the resolution without any 
amendments.  MFA Department of International Organizations 
and Conferences Division of Specialized UN Agencies Director 
Yang Shaokun said that he would need to research the 
background to our request, but that our views would receive 
serious consideration.
