1737 IMPLEMENTATION

1.  Malaysia's Foreign Ministry informed us that there would 
be no Malaysian government representative at the Open-Ended 
Technical Seminar on UNSCR 1737 Implementation scheduled for 
26 September.  According to to Bala Chandran Tharman, 
Principal Assistant Secretary in the Ministry's Multilateral 
Political Affairs Division, all potential Ministry attendees 
were occupied with other UNGA preparations and events. 
Tharman stated that he was unaware of any Government of 
Malaysia official planning to attend the seminar in Vienna. 
 
2.  To Embassy's knowledge, Malaysia has yet to submit a 1737 
implementation report to the UN.
