ΒΆ1. Per reftel requests, Embassy Econoff delivered demarche points
on aviation safety and security and environmental issues to Iing
Iskandar, Director of Aviation Safety at the Directorate of Civil
Aviation (DGCA) on June 28. We delivered the points verbally and in
writing and have requested comments several times since the initial
meeting. The Director seemed generally positive toward the USG
position but has not given us a detailed response. As follow up,
Econoff delivered points to Iskandar's superior, Budhi Suyitno,
Director General of Civil Aviation on July 13. We have to yet to
receive any substantive comments. Post will continue to follow up.
