SUBJECT: BRAZILIAN DELEGATION TO TRAVEL TO CUBA SEEKING CLOSER 
SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY COOPERATION 
 
1.  The Brazilian Ministry of Science and Technology announced 
February 12, that a delegation lead by Erney Camargo, President of 
the National Council for Scientific and Technological Development 
(CNPq), would travel to Cuba February 19-21, hoping to identify new 
opportunities for S&T cooperation. The delegation will include 
Claudio Rodrigues, Superintendent of the National Institute of 
Nuclear and Energy Research (IPEN), plus representatives from the 
University of Campinas (UNICAMP), the National Institute for 
Metrology, Standardization and Industrial Quality (INMETRO), the 
Federal University of Rio de Janeiro and the Brazilian Agricultural 
Research Corporation (EMBRAPA). 
 
2. According to the announcement, the Brazilians will also attend a 
seminar focused on human resource development and cooperation on 
projects related to nanotechnology, metrology, isotopes, farming and 
cattle raising.
