(U) Econoff delivered reftel message regarding attendance at the 
Bamako Conference on Avian and Pandemic Influenza to Bonnie Yau, 
Assistant Secretary (Health) of the Hong Kong Health, Welfare and 
Food Bureau.  She expressed support for the U.S. efforts to remain 
engaged internationally on AI, but stated that Hong Kong has no 
plans to attend the conference.  Hong Kong's international AI 
efforts are focused on China and Southeast Asia.
