1. The President of the Republic of Finland Tarja Halonen has 
accepted the invitation of President George W. Bush to a 
roundtable discussion on democracy on September 19, 2006. 
The text of a letter to the Embassy from her Chief of Staff 
follows: 
 
BEGIN TEXT 
The President of the Republic of Finland was delighted to 
recieve the invitation from the President of the United 
States of America George W. Bush, to the roundtable 
discussions on democracy to be held in New York on September 
19th, 2006 from 12:05-1:05 p.m. at the United Nations 
Headquarters. 
 
The President of the Republic of Finland accepts the 
invitation with pleasure.  However, she is scheduled to give 
a speech at the United Nations General Assembly at the same 
time as the round table discussions take place.  Therefore, 
there might be a delay in her arrival to the discussions.  We 
will be in contact with you later on about the details in her 
schedule.
