1.  We obtained the following information on September 5 from 
officials of the Egyptian Foreign Ministry and the 
Secretariat of the League of Arab States, respectively.

Egypt: 
 
A.  Attendance of the Head of State. 
 
-- President Hosni Mubarak will not attend the UN General 
Assembly. 
 
-- First Lady, Mrs. Suzanne Mubarak, will also not attend. 
 
B.  Attendance of the Head of Government. 
 
-- Prime Minister Dr. Ahmed Nazif will not attend. 
 
-- PM Nazif's wife will also not attend. 
 
C.  Foreign Minister Ahmed Aboul Gheit will represent Egypt 
at the General Assembly. 
 
-- Arrival date:  Not yet confirmed.  Coming from NAM Summit 
in Havana, most likely will arrive September 14 or 15. 
Departure date not yet decided. 
 
-- Minister Aboul Gheit's wife, Laila Aboul Gheit, will 
travel with the Minister. 
 
-- No interpretation is needed. 
 
D.  No other Egyptian VIP's are expected to join the 
delegation. 
 
E.  Attendance of other Foreign Ministry officials. 
 
--  Assistant Minister for Multilateral Affairs, 
Ambassador/Mrs. Naella Gabr will attend.  Ambassador Gabr is 
expected to arrive on or about September 14. 
--  MFA Cabinet staff member, Third Secretary Amr Rushdy. 
 
2.  Arab League Secretariat staff provided us the following 
information September 5. 
 
A.  Attendance of the Arab League (AL) Secretary General. 
 
-- Amre Moussa, Secretary General of the AL, will arrive in 
New York from the NAM Summit in Havana, Cuba on either 
September 16 or 17.  He will be joined separately in New York 
by his wife, Mrs. Laila Moussa Badawi who is scheduled to 
arrive on September 16.  Their departure date is not yet 
known. 
 
-- No interpretation is needed. 
 
E.  Attendance of other Arab League officials. 
 
-- Chief of Cabinet, Hisham Youssef. 
-- Cabinet staff member, Talal Elamine, Counselor. 
-- Cabinet staff member, Ms. Elham El Shejny. 
-- One security guard, name not yet provided.
