Understanding cables
Every cable message consists of three parts:
  • The top box shows each cables unique reference number, when and by whom it originally was sent, and what its initial classification was.
  • The middle box contains the header information that is associated with the cable. It includes information about the receiver(s) as well as a general subject.
  • The bottom box presents the body of the cable. The opening can contain a more specific subject, references to other cables (browse by origin to find them) or additional comment. This is followed by the main contents of the cable: a summary, a collection of specific topics and a comment section.

If you find meaningful or important information in a cable, please link directly to its unique reference number. ΒΆ1. (U) On Saturday, September 16, Embassy Ankara's Human 
Rights Officer gave an oral summary of the 2006 International 
Religious Freedom (IRF) Report to Ministry of Foreign Affairs 
Human Rights Department Head Hasan Ulusoy.  We delivered a 
hard copy to Ulusoy on Monday, September 18.  Ulusoy 
expressed his appreciation for our oral summary and prompt 
delivery of the report, and said he looks forward to reading 
it closely.  The Embassy posted the IRF Report on its website 
on September 18, and plans to post the translation in 
accordance with reftel.
