(U) Acting POL Chief and POLOFF delivered NIACT reftel 
demarche on UN Security Council Resolution on Lebanon to 
Director General of Foreign Policy, Eduardo Rosales Ramirez 
(Rosales) Saturday August 12 at 9:30 AM.  After examining the 
talking points and the resolution, Rosales contacted POLOFF 
and stated that he was in contact with Secretary of Foreign 
Affairs Milton Jimenez Puerto (Jimenez), who would be 
preparing a statement reflecting the GOH's official reaction 
to the resolution. He also stated that the GOH has an 
official paper position on the situation in Lebanon and 
Israel which he would send to the Embassy on the next working 
business day, in addition to the response specific to UNSC 
resolution 1701.  Post is awaiting GOH response and will 
communicate the information from both the above mentioned MFA 
documents in septels to follow.
