SUBJECT: TEXT OF JULY 26 CHAD-SUDAN AGREEMENT 
 
1.  On August 11, Post received a hardcopy of the July 26 
agreement signed by the Government of Chad and the Government 
of Sudan.  Below is a translation of the relevant points of 
the agreement: 
 
2.  (BEGIN TRANSLATION) 
 
The two parties agree to interdict the use of their 
respective territories for hostile activities against the 
sovereignty and the territorial integrity of the other; 
 
The two parties agree to interdict the presence and hosting 
of rebel elements in their respective territories. 
 
The two parties agree to create a political commission to 
follow-up on the present agreement, overseen by the Foreign 
Affairs Ministries of the two countries; 
 
The commission will meet in Khartoum and in N'Djamena, 
alternately, once every three months, or as the conditions 
merit; 
 
The parties agree to the creation of a military/security 
commission, charged with overseeing the border between the 
two countries; 
 
The creation of a mixed military force that will be deployed 
in the following zones: Bahai, Tine, Koulbous, Khor Baranga, 
Amdjireme, Adre, Ade, Modohina, El Djinena, Tissi, Amdoukoun; 
 
The two parties agree that restoring diplomatic relations 
between the two countries should be left to the discretion of 
the two Heads of State; 
 
The two parties will work so that the mechanisms relative to 
articles 3,4,5,6,7, and 8 take effect within a time-frame not 
to exceed one months from the date of the signature of the 
present minutes. 
 
Completed in N'Djamena, July 26, 2006, in French and Arabic, 
the two texts in accord.
