Understanding cables

Linking to a specific paragraph in the body of a cable is also possible by copying the appropriate link (to be found at theparagraph symbol). 1. (SBU) Post delivered reftel demarche on Aug 12 to MFA 
Director General for Global Affairs Stelian Stoian and also 
provided a copy to Presidential Advisor Claudiu Saftoiu. 
 
2. (SBU) Stoian, who was in the proces of preparing briefing 
materials on Lebanon for Romanian President Basescu, reported 
that Romania would issue a political statement on August 12 
in support of the UNSC resolution.  Stoian was pleased to 
receive the demarche and asked for information as to what 
countries have committed to providing troops for the expanded 
peace keeping operation.  He indicated that Romania was not 
committed at this time to sending forces to Lebanon. He asked 
whether the U.S. would be contributing troops to the 
peacekeeping operation, and suggested that might influence 
Romania's final determination.
