Understanding cables

SUBJECT: REFUGEES RETURN TO SUDAN FROM DRC 
 
 
1.  (U)  The United Nations High Commission for Refugees 
(UNHCR) began the assisted return of Sudanese refugees from 
the DRC on June 7.  Two hundred and twenty six Sudanese 
refugees left the Ingboko area of Orientale province, DRC by 
UNHCR convoy for home in the Yei and Juba areas of southern 
Sudan. 
 
2. (U)  UNHCR estimated that 6,622 Congolese refugees remain 
in Sudan, and 13,492 Sudanese refugees remain in DRC. 
 
3. (U)  UNHCR also continues the ongoing repatriation of 
Congolese refugees from Sudan, which began earlier this year.
