Understanding cables

SUBJECT: ROYAL JORDANIAN SEEKS UPDATE ON TRAVEL BAN FOR USG 
TRAVELERS USING COMMERCIAL AIR OUT OF IRAQ 
 
 
1.  This is an action message -- see para. 4 for action 
requested. 
 
2.  A senior official of Jordan's state-owned Royal Jordanian 
Airlines (RJ) asked the Embassy April 4 for the current 
status of the ban on the use of commercial airlines by USG 
travelers traveling to and from Iraq. 
 
3.  Embassy understands that the restriction on using 
commercial flights from Amman to Baghdad has just been lifted 
but remains in effect for Baghdad-Amman flights. 
 
4.  Action Requested:  Please provide an update on the 
current policy regarding Baghdad commercial flights for use 
with RJ.
