Understanding cables
Every cable message consists of three parts:

SUBJECT: GOVERNMENT OF EGYPT INDICATES INTEREST IN 
PEACE-BUILDING COMMISSION EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE MEMBERSHIP 
 
The following is an Embassy translation of a Ministry of 
Foreign Affairs diplomatic note received January 23, 2006: 
 
Begin text: 
 
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs - the Office of the Deputy 
Assistant Minister for International Political Relations - 
extends its regards to the Embassy of the United States of 
America in Cairo and informs it that the Arab Republic of 
Egypt has submitted a request to be nominated for membership 
of the Executive Committee of the Peace-building Commission 
by members of the General Assembly.  Voting (on the 
membership) is expected to take place in New York by 
mid-February. 
 
In light of relations and cooperation between our countries, 
we hope that the Egyptian nomination request for membership 
of the aforementioned Commission would win the support of 
your respectable government. 
 
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs - the Office of the Deputy 
Assistant Minister for International Political Relations - 
seizes this opportunity to express its sincere appreciation 
to the respectable Embassy.
