Understanding cables
Every cable message consists of three parts:
  • The top box shows each cables unique reference number, when and by whom it originally was sent, and what its initial classification was.
  • The middle box contains the header information that is associated with the cable. It includes information about the receiver(s) as well as a general subject.

SUBJECT: EGYPT'S SUPPORT FOR PAKISTAN EARTHQUAKE RELIEF

1.  Egypt responded immediately to Pakistan's humanitarian 
crisis following the earthquake and has already donated 45 
tons of relief supplies, including tents, blankets, food and 
medicine.  The Ministry of Defense used three of its own 
C-130s and two U.S. Navy C-130s to transport the supplies. 
 
2.  Poloffs delivered reftel demarche to the Ministry of 
Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Defense on October 23. 
MFA Americas Desk officer Basil Ahmed said he would share the 
demarche within the GOE for further consideration.  Post will 
continue to press for a substantive response and report this 
separately.
