Understanding cables
Every cable message consists of three parts:
  • The top box shows each cables unique reference number, when and by whom it originally was sent, and what its initial classification was.

1.   POST WISHES TO SUBMIT AND/OR UPDATE THE FOLLOWING 
  NAMES AND INFORMATION IN CLASS IN ACCORDANCE WITH VIPER 
  PROCEDURES: 
 
2. SPANISH PRESS OF MARCH 24, 2005 REPORTED THAT THE 
TWO ETA ACTIVISTS REFERENCED BELOW WERE ARRESTED BY 
FRENCH POLICE IN LANNEMEZAN, FRANCE.  THE ARRESTED WERE 
FOUND IN POSSESSION OF TWO PISTOL GUNS AND FALSE 
IDENTIFICATION.  THE POLICE ALSO SEARCHED THE STOLEN 
VEHICLES THEY DROVE AND FOUND SEVERAL FALSE LICENSE 
PLATES, THREE KILOGRAMS OF EXPLOSIVES, CHEMICALS, 
DETONATORS AND TIMERS. 
 
2.   NAME: SEGUROLA QUEREJETA, JOSE 
 
  -    GENDER: MALE 
-    DPOB: 29 YEARS OLD, AZPEITIA, GUIPUZCOA, SPAIN 
-    CLASS: NEGATIVE 
-    IN 2001, SEGUROLA WAS A MEMBER OF ETA'S "COMMANDO 
ARANBA." HE FLED SPAIN AFTER A POLICE RAID IN WHICH THE 
MAJORITY OF ITS MEMBERS WERE ARRESTED.  SPANISH POLICE 
INVESTIGATORS HAVE STATED THAT SEGUROLA PLAYED AN 
IMPORTANT ROLE IN THE  MILITARY NETWORK OF ETA TOGETHER 
WITH THE PRESENT LEADER, GARIKOITZ ASPIAZU RUBINA, (JUL 
6, 1973, SPAIN - CLASS POSITIVE). SEGUROLA ALLEGEDLY 
PROVIDED OTHER ACTIVISTS WITH A VAN CONTAINING 536 
KILOGRAMS OF EXPLOSIVES THAT WAS INTERCEPTED BY THE 
SPANISH POLICE IN MARCH 2004. 
 
3.   NAME: ZALDUA IRIBERRI, MIREN ITXASO 
 
  -    GENDER: FEMALE 
-    DPOB: 1972, SAN SEBASTIAN, GUIPUZCOA, SPAIN 
-    CLASS: NEGATIVE 
-    ZALDUA WAS NOT KNOWN BY POLICE AS AN ACTIVE MEMBER 
OF THE MILITARY NETWORK OF ETA, ALTHOUGH SHE WAS 
PREVIOUSLY IDENTIFIED IN 1992 AS A MEMBER OF THE YOUTH 
RADICAL BASQUE NATIONALIST ORGANIZATION "JARRAI" 
ALLEGEDLY LINKED TO ETA.
