Understanding cables

This is the Southeastern Turkey press summary for June 8, 2004.

POLITICAL, SECURITY, HUMAN RIGHTS 
 
Cumhuriyet / In Diyarbakir, more than 400 thousand people 
enjoyed the concert organized for the closing of the Diyarbakir 
Art and Culture Festival.  Goran Bregovic and Koma Azat were 
honorary performers at the festival. 
 
Milli Gazete / Ali Gobelek, who was accused of killing five 
people in Germany, and later arrested in Adana and put in 
prison, committed suicide in the prison. 
 
Turkiye / Customs Officers found 300 tons of wheat, which was a 
part of the 700 tons to be destroyed due to damage while in 
shipment.  Ten people were detained in connection with the 
incident. 
 
Evrensel / During a clash with PKK/KONGRA-GEL in Yayladere, 
Bingol province, four Turkish soldiers were wounded.
