1. Foreign Minister Abdullah Gul sends a letter to Ambassador 
Pearson dated May 8, 2003.  Following is the text of the 
letter received by the Embassy on May 12, 2003.

2. Dear Mr. Ambassador, 
 
 
I would like to express my appreciation to you personally and 
to the Government of the United States for the assistance 
extended to the convoy of the Turkish Red Crescent Society 
which delivered humanitarian aid materials consisting of 
medical supplies, food and water in Kirkuk and Baghdad. 
 
 
Thanks to the secure environment and close cooperation with 
the United States forces on the ground, the convoy of the 
Turkish Red Crescent Society has successully completed its 
mission. 
 
 
Turkey is determined to continue its cooperation with the 
United States in the field of humanitarian assistance in 
order to alleviate the suffering of the Iraqi people.
