Viewing cable 08ADANA30, CASHIER CHECKING ACCOUNT

If you are new to these pages, please read an introduction on the structure of a cable as well as how to discuss them with others. See also the FAQs

Understanding cables
Every cable message consists of three parts:
  • The top box shows each cables unique reference number, when and by whom it originally was sent, and what its initial classification was.
  • The middle box contains the header information that is associated with the cable. It includes information about the receiver(s) as well as a general subject.
  • The bottom box presents the body of the cable. The opening can contain a more specific subject, references to other cables (browse by origin to find them) or additional comment. This is followed by the main contents of the cable: a summary, a collection of specific topics and a comment section.
To understand the justification used for the classification of each cable, please use this WikiSource article as reference.

SUBJECT: CASHIER CHECKING ACCOUNT

REF: 05 CHARLESTON 01681

1. In reftel, post cashier was authorized to establish a
checking account valid until 08/31/08. Post requests that this
authorization be extended to allow principal cashier, Muge
Kocak, to continue using the checking account.

2. Required information for cashier checking account:
        a. Name of Post: US Consulate Adana
        b. Cashier's name: Muge Kocak
        c. Cashier code: TRB
        d. Name of Bank: Fortis Bank
        e. Purpose: Receive replenishment and make vendor payments.
        f. Justification: Turnover time for receiving checks from
Charleston typically takes up to 21 days, which creates
significant issues with Posts' paying vendors on time. In
addition, the Consulate's location outside of downtown Adana
requires that the cashier's carrying checks to the downtown
bank requires a physical security escort.

3. Based on the justification above, Post requests
re-authorization for Class B Cashier Muge Kocak to continue
operating a cashier Checking account.
