ROMANIA'S RATIFICATION OF THE INTERNATIONAL HYDROGRAPHIC 
ORGANIZATION CONVENTION 
 
REF: (A) PRINCIPALITY OF MONACO NOTE VERBALE 2001-08229 
 
1. (U)  Embassy received diplomatic note number 2001-08229 
dated February 5, 2007 from the Principality of Monaco 
announcing the accession of Romania to the Convention of the 
International Hydrographic Organization.  Informal 
translation: 
 
"The Department of External Relations of the Principality of 
Monaco presents its compliments to the Embassy of the Untied 
States and has the honor to address the enclosed note 
regarding the Romanian accession to the International 
Hydrographic Organization, and request its transmission to 
your government. 
 
The Department of External Relations of the Principality of 
Monaco avails itself of this opportunity to renew to the 
Embassy of the United States the assurances of its highest 
consideration." 
 
"Convention on the International Hydrographic Organization 
signed in Monaco on May 3, 1967. 
 
The Department of External Relations of the Principality of 
Monaco has the honor to inform the Ministries of Foreign 
Affairs of the Governments party to the above-mentioned 
Convention that with Romania's application for membership 
having been approved by two-thirds of the Member States, the 
ratification instrument of this government was received on 
January 29, 2007 by the Government of the Principality of 
Monaco in its capacity as depository holder. 
 
In conformity with article XX, the Convention came into 
effect on January 29, 2007 for Romania, date of the 
registration of the instrument. 
 
The External Relations Department of the Principality of 
Monaco avails itself of this opportunity to renew to the 
Ministries of Foreign Affairs of the Governments party to the 
Convention on the International Hydrographic Organization."
