Understanding cables
Every cable message consists of three parts:
  • The top box shows each cables unique reference number, when and by whom it originally was sent, and what its initial classification was.

The following is Sensitive But Unclassified.  Please protect

1.  (U)  Econoff delivered Ref A demarche on October 30 to 
Dr. Samiha Fawzy, First Assistant to the Minister of Foreign 
Trade and Industry (MFTI).  FAS delivered key points to the 
DG at the Ministry of Agriculture.  Egypt will continue to 
press for an improved European WTO Agriculture proposal. 
 
2.  (SBU)  Fawzy also provided Econoff with the October 27 
communique issued by African trade ministers in Cairo 
following their consultative meeting on upcoming WTO 
negotiations (sent via e-mail to NEA/ELA and USTR).  The 
communique acknowledges the U.S. proposal as a "step in the 
right direction" to be "built on and improved" in the 
upcoming negotiations.
